In part one of the Radicalize Your Relationships series, we explored the what and why of Relationship Anarchy (RA). Now, we let's dive deeper into how to practice Relationship Anarchy.
Relationship Anarchy is rooted in the philosophical and political belief that people have the right to form relationships based on their own needs rather than societal expectations. Relationship Anarchy is a radical stance against amatonormativity, hyper-individualism, enmeshment and power-over behaviors/beliefs. RA encourages us to commit to the well-being of our entire community which includes ourselves.
This workshop will explore in further depth the barriers that you and your clients may come across when seeking to embody this relationship framework. Rooted in radical honesty and compassion, we will shed light on the covert ways supremacist thinking shapes intimate relationships. Participants will learn how to identify and deconstruct oppressive beliefs about what intimate relationships “should” be. Participants will be given concrete interventions to help clients hold the balance of autonomy and closeness through the lens of community interdependence.
