This workshop is designed for professionals pursuing training in sex therapy, education, or counseling or who are currently engaged in the field or sex therapy and/or education. In this workshop, we will explore common sexual concerns from a holistic perspective. Learning Objectives
- Identify at least two medical conditions which can contribute to sexual dysfunction
- Describe the differences between gender identity, sexual orientation, assigned gender at birth, gender expression, and relationship/romantic orientation.
- Identify the difference between vaginismus and dyspareunia
- Identify one major criterion used in the DSM-5 that impacts Assigned Female at Birth People with Vulvas
- Describe at least one way to apply the PLISSIT Model to sexual concerns
- Describe the two competing elements within Bancroft’s Dual Control Model
- List two classes of medication in addition to two brand-name medications which may impede sexual desire and function
- List and explain at least three symptoms of sexual dysfunction that require referral to a medical provider
