Therapeutic Considerations and Approaches for Working With Men Over 60

This workshop focuses on the journey of men’s aging, what brings them into therapy and approaches that therapists might consider in working with men, whether they are in individual or couples therapy.

...Read more what may be the unfamiliar – the body that does not work like it used to, the loss of importance for the work they did, or adapting to relationships with adult children and perhaps a spouse who is, like them, also experiencing changes that come with aging (lower libido, less familiar activities, more – and perhaps too much – time together as a couple). Transitions are not always easy for any of us, and for men who are expected to have (and display) a sense of control over their lives, to experience financial insecurity, identity anxiety (Who am I if I am no longer working? What do I do with my time?), isolation, depression and deep feelings of loss can contribute to, increased sense of irritation, social withdrawal, ignoring health care needs, and even suicidal thoughts.
